Christopher Klein named Prisons Chief

Commissioner Robert Coupe today announced the appointment of Christopher Klein as Chief of the Bureau of Prisons for the Delaware Department of Correction (DOC). The Chief directs DOC’s largest Bureau, which is responsible for supervising nearly 6,000 adults serving a sentence or awaiting adjudication at Delaware’s four prison facilities.

Inmate Death – Alberto Miranda

Alberto Miranda, age 56, an inmate at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, died in the prison infirmary yesterday morning, March 10, 2015, of natural causes following a lengthy illness.




Two offenders fail to return to Department of Correction work release centers

The Delaware Department of Correction announces that two offenders have failed to return from authorized job passes issued yesterday by the Sussex Community Corrections Center in Georgetown and the Morris Community Corrections Center in Dover.




Delaware’s newest Correctional Officers complete their training, enter public service

Delaware’s largest law enforcement agency today graduated 31 correctional officers and a correctional educator who have completed the Department of Correction’s Correctional Employee Initial Training (CEIT) program during a ceremony today at the Department’s Dover headquarters. These graduates now join the ranks of the 1,700 Correctional Officers who are assigned to Delaware’s state prison system.
