24 Department of Correction recruits graduate from initial training, begin assignments in state prison facilities

The Department of Correction’s 2,500-strong workforce was strengthened today with the addition of 24 individuals when the latest recruit class graduated from the Correctional Employee Initial Training (CEIT) academy. CEIT is a 9-week course of instruction combining hands-on and classroom training that prepares new Correctional Officers and other staff for assignments in prison facilities across the state.




Marc Richman named chief of correctional healthcare

Commissioner Robert Coupe today announced the appointment of Marc Richman, Ph.D., as Chief of the Bureau of Correctional Healthcare Services for the Delaware Department of Correction (DOC). As Bureau Chief, Richman will direct a full-time staff of 14 who manage an annual budget of nearly $60 million and are responsible for ensuring that 400 contract medical personnel deliver healthcare services to 7,000 inmates.

Correctional healthcare chief retires after 29 years of service to Delaware

Today the Delaware Department of Correction commended James Welch, Chief of the Bureau of Correctional Healthcare Services, who retires May 31st from his position after 29 years of service to the State of Delaware.




Department of Correction searching for Wilmington work release offender

The Delaware Department of Correction announces that a work release offender assigned to the Plummer Community Corrections Center in Wilmington has left the facility without authorization. Ongoing attempts to make contact with Pope have been unsuccessful and an escape warrant for his arrest has been issued.
