Delaware Releases K-12 Mathematics Framework

The Delaware Department of Education released the Delaware K-12 Mathematics Framework today, defining effective and equitable mathematics systems in the state and providing education leaders with the direction, resources, and support needed to provide all students with the mathematics instruction they deserve. Delaware is only the second state, after New Mexico, to release a statewide mathematics framework grounded in high-quality instructional materials and professional learning.




Statewide Autism Programs Move to Department of Education

The Delaware Office of Statewide Autism Programs is now part of the Delaware Department of Education. The office, once also known as the Delaware Autism Program, provides supports to students with an educational classification of autism. Christina School District formerly administered the state-funded program. The Delaware General Assembly made the change through epilogue language.




Delaware Contracts with Private Firm to Test School Drinking Water

The State of Delaware is actively working with federal and local partners to ensure all Delaware children and school staff have safe and clean drinking water. With the support of a grant from the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), DOE with support from the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) began a sampling initiative in Delaware schools in October 2020 to identify the levels of lead within the drinking water system.




Middle and High School Students to Use Digital Mapping Technology to Showcase Delaware

The Delaware Department of Education, in conjunction with the state’s geospatial education community, encourages Delaware middle and high school students to join Esri’s 2023 ArcGIS webapp competition. Students are challenged to create and share interactive mapping projects using ESRI ArcGIS software. Delaware entrants to this national competition must create a digital map or Story map that highlights facts and features unique to Delaware.




12 Schools Honored For Students’ Academic Achievement

Secretary of Education Mark Holodick commends 12 schools from across the state for their students’ growth and progress toward English language proficiency.
