Delmarva Fox Squirrel Recovery and Species Restoration in Delaware Continued During 2022

Delmarva fox squirrels now have three new homes in Sussex County as a result of translocations during 2022 to the Assawoman Wildlife Area, Redden State Forest and Trap Pond State Park, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced today.




Delaware Hunters Reminded Harvest of Delmarva Fox Squirrels is Prohibited

With the opening of gray squirrel hunting season on Sept. 15, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control reminds Delaware hunters to be vigilant and not to harvest state-endangered Delmarva fox squirrels.




DNREC dedicates new playground at Trap Pond State Park

DNREC officials today unveiled a new playground at Trap Pond State Park during a dedication ceremony also attended by state Senator Bryant Richardson, state Representative Timothy Dukes, Trap Pond Partners President Chase Cline, and a host of other local officials.




DNREC to host Wetlands Celebration and Get in Gear Family Bike Rally May 5 at Trap Pond

DNREC is celebrating May as American Wetlands Month with a variety of activities to honor wetlands as an important natural resource that plays key roles in protecting Delawareans from storms and flooding and providing habitat for wildlife.
