Delaware Department of Agriculture Facilitates Recovery of Orphaned Chicks

The Delaware Department of Agriculture (DDA) and the First State Animal Center (FSAC) have collaborated to rehabilitate thousands of orphaned young birds recovered from a misdirected USPS shipment. Anyone interested in adopting any of these birds to look for an announcement from First State Animal Center early next week.




Public Invited to Comment as Delaware Department of Agriculture Reviews Regulations

he Delaware Department of Agriculture (DDA) is conducting a review of its regulations and seeking input from the public. DDA is accepting comments and will hold a series of public hearings to meet the requirements of the Regulatory Flexibility Act (29 Del C. §10401 et seq.). Comments on the regulations under review are being accepted through May 30, and they are available at https://regulations.delaware.gov/AdminCode/title3/index.shtml. Regulations for programs overseen by a commission or board are exempt from the required review. Still, DDA will forward any comments received to the relevant program for consideration.




DDA Transitions Away from Issuing Interstate Health Certificates

The Delaware Department of Agriculture (DDA) announced it will no longer issue interstate certificates of veterinary inspection (CVI), also known as health certificates, for youth livestock exhibitors traveling to out-of-state shows, exhibitions, or sales. While DDA has a long-standing history of issuing health certificates for youth exhibitors, the agency has worked to phase this practice out over the last two years, encouraging livestock owners to develop a relationship with a licensed veterinarian for routine and emergency care.
