This week, I had the privilege of celebrating the grand opening of our new Dover Public Library. With support from state lawmakers, our Delaware libraries are receiving the funding they need to modernize and grow, making them among the best in the country. Our libraries are not only real hubs for information-sharing with e-books and e-magazines, wireless technology and computers, but they are also places that are helping people find jobs.




Another 10 DUI Arrests Made In September

The Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign netted another 10 DUI arrests last weekend (Sept 14). This brings the total DUI arrests made as part of the campaign to 154. Statewide, there have been over 3,500 DUI arrests made in Delaware this year.

National Child Passenger Safety Week is dedicated to promoting the correct and consistent use of child safety seats. The Office of Highway Safety (OHS) will conduct a “National Seat Check Saturday” event on Sept. 22 at the Community Bank Delaware in Lewes.

In his weekly message, the Governor talks about making Delaware the first state in the country to establish a formal statewide framework for comprehensive school safety plans, which will bring all 219 public schools operating in the state under one common safety protocol.

If our kids are going to learn to the best of their abilities, they need, first and foremost, to be safe. It’s something I said in my State of the State address two years ago. And since then, we’ve been working to make reality school safety plans for each of our schools.
