First State Food System Program Opens Second Grant Application Cycle

The Delaware Department of Agriculture (DDA) announced that beginning on April 19, 2023, the Delaware Council on Farm & Food Policy (Council) will accept grant applications for the second cycle of the First State Food System Program. Through this program, funding is available to Delaware farmers and a diverse range of food supply chain entities. Awarded funds will aid local entities to expand capacity, coordinate with partners in their communities, and do their part to build resilience in Delaware’s food system.




Limited Open Burning of Brush, Branches and Limbs Allowed in Delaware Until May 1

DNREC reminds the public open burning of materials such as tree limbs, brush and branches is allowed until May 1 – when the state’s annual open burning ban takes effect and continues through Sept. 30.




DPH Announces April 22 As DEA National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day for Delaware

Delaware will hold its 24th National DEA Prescription Drug Take-Back Day event on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Delawareans can discard their expired or unused medications at locations statewide between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Disposal for sharps and needles will be available at select locations. Overdose Response Education, with free Narcan kits available at select locations.
