The first few years of a child’s life are crucial to his or her success. That’s why one of our top goals has been giving all Delaware families access to high-quality early learning programs and why I made early childhood funding one of my top budget priorities this year. It supports social and emotional development, helps even the playing field for children across socio-economic levels, and puts all kids on the path to meeting their full potential. The efforts of state leaders, advocates, and, most importantly, teachers and other staff are paying off.

While Delaware has yet to experience a significant heat wave in 2016, the Division of Public Health (DPH) is taking the opportunity at the beginning of the summer to remind residents to prepare for excessive heat as the temperatures start to go up.

Last Sunday, Delawareans and Americans across the country awoke to the horrifying and tragic news of the worst mass shooting in the nation’s history – a crime that the President appropriately called “an act of terror and an act of hate.” Victims were largely from the LGBT community. To Delaware’s LGBT community, we stand with you. To Camp Rehoboth and Haven at University of Delaware, thank you for standing strong and providing comfort.
