Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police Blotter: June 11-17

Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between June 11-17 made 2,827 contacts with anglers, boaters, and the general public, issuing 50 citations. Officers responded to 74 complaints regarding possible violations of laws and regulations or requests to assist the public.

The first of four open houses to get public input on creating a master plan for the future of White Clay Creek State Park in Newark will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday June 25, at Deerfield, 507 Thompson Station Road, Newark, DE 19711.




Reclaim Our River Eco Paddle and lunch set for June 23 at Laurel River Park

DNREC’s Division of Watershed Stewardship, the National Parks Conservation Association, Delaware Nature Society, Abbotts Mill Nature Center, and Nanticoke Watershed Alliance invite kayakers and canoeists to Roger C. Fisher Laurel River Park for the third annual Eco Paddle from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 23.




DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife to temporarily close Garrisons Lake north parking area for repaving

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife will temporarily close the north parking area at Garrisons Lake Thursday, June 21 for repaving. Weather permitting, the work should be completed and the parking area reopened by Friday, June 29.




M/V Twin Capes, retired Lewes-to-Cape May ferry, sunk to become part of Delaware’s artificial reef system

The M/V Twin Capes, a ferry christened 43 years ago on the Delaware Bay and retired after thousands of runs between her namesakes Cape Henlopen, Delaware, and Cape May, New Jersey, was sunk to become part of Delaware’s acclaimed artificial reef system.
