DNREC’s Division of Watershed Stewardship invites photographers to participate in the first Delaware Watersheds Photo Contest, which aims to share the beauty of Delaware’s diverse environment while acting as a vivid reminder that everything that happens on land within the state’s watersheds also directly affects what’s happening in our waterways.




DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife sets Saturday, May 5 training in Lewes for volunteer beachnesting bird monitors

Volunteers wanting to help protect Delaware’s endangered piping plovers and other beachnesting birds are invited to join DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife monitoring team and attend a training session held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, at Cape Henlopen State Park’s Biden Environmental Training Center.




DNREC’s First State Heritage Park joins in Dover Days festivities May 4 and 5

DNREC’s First State Heritage Park will present “Favorite Pastimes” as the theme for the First State Heritage Park’s monthly “First Saturday in the First State,” during the annual Dover Days celebration on Saturday, May 5.




DNREC’s Aquatic Resources Education Center to host ‘Go Fish Delaware!’ family fishing festival Saturday, May 12

Visitors of all ages are invited to learn all about fishing at the Go Fish Delaware! Family Fishing Festival to be held, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Aquatic Resources Education Center, located off Route 9 east of Smyrna. Admission is free and open to the public.




DNREC to host Wetlands Celebration and Get in Gear Family Bike Rally May 5 at Trap Pond

DNREC is celebrating May as American Wetlands Month with a variety of activities to honor wetlands as an important natural resource that plays key roles in protecting Delawareans from storms and flooding and providing habitat for wildlife.
