DUI Checkpoints Continue

A total of eighty-eight (88) people were arrested statewide last week for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs. Of those 88 individuals, eleven (11) were arrested at Checkpoint Strikeforce DUI checkpoints over the Labor Day weekend. Statewide, there have been 2,823 DUI arrests made in Delaware this year.

Governor Signs Bills to Fight Meth Production

Joined by legislators and leaders in the law enforcement community, Governor Markell signed two laws to reduce illegal production of methamphetamine in Delaware by making it harder for criminals to gain access to the materials they need to make meth and giving police tools to crack down on its production.

Buckle Up. No Excuses.

Did you know that not everyone buckles up when they get into a vehicle? Of the twenty-nine (29) vehicle occupants killed this year in Delaware, 53% were not wearing a seat belt. That is one of many reasons the Office of Highway Safety along with officers from participating State, County and municipal law enforcement agencies are continuing to enforce Delaware’s seat belt law. Dedicated overtime patrols start July 21st and run through August 8th.
