DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation’s Brandywine Zoo introduces two new red pandas to the public

Brandywine Zoo has made a red panda transfer and introduced two new pandas to the public. The zoo’s new residents are Sherman, a five-year-old male from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology institute in Virginia, and a four-year-old female, named Mohu, from the Blank Park Zoo in Iowa.




Advisory Council on Wildlife and Freshwater Fish June 26 meeting canceled

Delaware’s Advisory Council on Wildlife and Freshwater Fish meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 26 has been canceled.

The next scheduled meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, in DNREC’s R&R Building Auditorium, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901.




M/V Twin Capes, retired Lewes-to-Cape May ferry, sunk to become part of Delaware’s artificial reef system

The M/V Twin Capes, a ferry christened 43 years ago on the Delaware Bay and retired after thousands of runs between her namesakes Cape Henlopen, Delaware, and Cape May, New Jersey, was sunk to become part of Delaware’s acclaimed artificial reef system.




Public asked to report sick or dead wild birds to DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section for 2018 West Nile virus monitoring

DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section within the Division of Fish & Wildlife is seeking the public’s help in monitoring West Nile virus in Delaware by reporting sick or dead wild birds that may have contracted the virus.




Holiday weekend anti-crime operation in Kent County by Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police on DNREC-managed properties results in 71 citations

In response to complaints of damaged state property, illegal drug use, littering, and trespassing, DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers over the Memorial Day weekend issued a total of 68 citations as part of an evening crime prevention operation throughout Kent County.
