DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife seeking great shots of Delaware hunters for 2016/17 photo contest

With many of Delaware’s hunting seasons already open or opening soon, plan on pointing your camera afield in the months ahead and perhaps catching a hunter in a duck blind or deer stand or otherwise pursuing their favorite game animal or bird. DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife invites you to enter your hunting photographs in the 2016/17 Delaware Hunting Photo Contest.

DNREC postpones Thursday, Sept. 29 Clean Power Plan public workshop for New Castle County; will be rescheduled

DOVER – DNREC’s Division of Air Quality planned to hold three public workshops this week to share information with Delawareans on climate change, the EPA’s Clean Power Plan (CPP) and how Delaware intends to comply with it, as well as advising the public on how to take advantage of related grants and other programs offered by DNREC’s Division of Energy & Climate. One workshop was planned for each county, but a scheduling conflict has forced postponement of the New Castle County workshop originally set for Thursday, Sept. 29.




DNREC issues $241,013 penalty and Secretary’s Order to Formosa Plastics Corporation for hazardous waste violations

DOVER – DNREC Secretary David Small has issued a Notice of Administrative Penalty and Secretary’s Order to Formosa Plastics Corporation for violations of Delaware’s laws and regulations governing hazardous waste management, with Formosa Plastics ordered to pay a penalty of $241,013 along with $3,563 in cost recovery for the department.




Governor Markell issues executive order creating firearm suicide prevention task force

Governor Markell announced today that he has signed an Executive Order that brings a diverse coalition of stakeholders together to reduce the number of suicides by firearm. It builds upon sustained work across Delaware over more than a decade to understand the many causes and factors that lead to suicide, raise awareness, and promote strategies to reduce suicide.
