2018 DNREC’s Delaware Coastal Cleanup drew 1,100-plus volunteers who collected 2.7 tons of trash

The DNREC-sponsored 31st annual Delaware Coastal Cleanup held Sept. 22 drew 1,115 volunteers, who collected 2.7 tons of trash and recyclables from 42 sites along more than 68 miles of Delaware’s waterways and coastline stretching from Wilmington to Fenwick Island.

DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Dec. 3-9 made 1,913 contacts with hunters, anglers, boaters, and the general public, issuing 40 citations. Officers responded to 50 complaints regarding possible violations of laws and regulations or requests to assist the public.

Reminder for residents of New Castle County that preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps for portions of New Castle County released in December 2016 and revised in May 2018 by the Federal Emergency Management Agency will begin a 90-day regulatory appeal period Friday, Dec. 14 through Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
