DNREC’s next scrap tire recycling drop-off set for Saturday, April 1 at Middletown DelDOT Yard

DOVER – DNREC is once again rolling out an opportunity for Delaware residents to recycle their old and disused tires at a Scrap Tire Drop-Off Day put on by the Division of Waste & Hazardous Substances. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., rain or shine, Saturday, April 1 at the Middletown DelDOT Yard, 5369 Summit Bridge Road, Middletown, DE 19709.

To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between March 13-19 made 1,067 contacts with anglers, hunters, boaters and the general public, including 14 vessel boardings for boating safety, hunting and fishing regulation compliance checks, issuing 10 citations




DNREC Mosquito Control Section’s spraying season begins with larviciding wooded wetlands

Weather-permitting, DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section within the Division of Fish & Wildlife will begin its annual spring woodland pool spraying campaign Thursday, March 23 downstate and possibly Friday, March 24 upstate, treating wooded wetlands near select populated areas in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties.

The Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve (DNERR) is seeking volunteers to assist with the annual bay-wide horseshoe crab spawning survey in May and June on Kent County’s Ted Harvey Wildlife Area and Kitts Hummock and North Bowers beaches.
