Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation, Inc. (DEMEC) celebrated the commissioning of unit #2 at the Beasley Power Station. About 100 people attended the event, including representatives of DEMEC, its member communities and local and State officials, including Delaware Governor Jack Markell, DNREC Secretary Collin O’Mara and Smyrna Mayor Patricia A. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced today that the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) will receive $900,000 in federal support to expand the Department’s “Phone in One Hand, Ticket in the Other.” pilot enforcement campaign to reduce distracted driving.
