During the month of September 2014, the home of the “Penman of the Revolution” will present seven special programs that explore different aspects of everyday life as it would have been lived during the 18th century when John Dickinson was in residence at the property.




Thomas Del Porte to display paintings in the Mezzanine Gallery in September

Del Porte presents eleven new works depicting local scenes in canvases of vibrant and jewel-like color. The works on view feature street scenes from Wilmington area neighborhoods. A brilliant colorist, Del Porte creates his outdoor images en plein air and translates the scenes before him into sumptuous color and texture.




Six programs on Native-American heritage among 23 events at the museums of the state of Delaware during September 2014

“The Star-Spangled Banner,” drums, and traditional meat-preservation techniques to also be featured.

On Monday, Lt. Governor Matt Denn greets Wilmington Manor Elementary School students for their first day of the 2014-15 school year. He will be joined by Principal Stacie Ruiz and Colonial School District Superintendent Dr. Dusty Blakey.
