2019 District/Charter Teachers of the Year named

Twenty Delaware teachers are finalists to be named Delaware’s 2019 State Teacher of the Year. Selected from among the 9,000 public school teachers in the state, the candidates were nominated by their districts or the Delaware Charter School Network because of their ability to inspire students with a love of learning, demonstration of professional traits and devotion to teaching.




State awards more than $145,000 in merit scholarships

The Delaware Department of Education has announced the recipients of four state merit scholarship programs for the 2018-19 academic year. Merit scholarships are competitive and awarded based on a student’s academic performance, participation in school activities and service to the community.

The Delaware Department of Education will host community meetings across the state in preparation for redesigning the state’s quality rating and improvement system for early childhood education providers.




State announces annual free, reduced price meal policy

The Delaware Department of Education announces the U.S. Department of Agriculture policy for free and reduced price meals for children unable to pay the full price for meals served under the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and After School Snack Program. Each participating school and its administrative office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.
