2023 Delaware Teacher of the Year to be Named Next Month

Twenty of the state’s top teachers will be honored at a celebration on Oct. 11, when one of them will be named Delaware’s 2023 Teacher of the Year. The candidates were nominated by their districts or the Delaware Charter Network during the 2022 calendar year because of their superior ability to inspire students with a love of learning, exemplary demonstration of professional traits and strong sense of dedication and devotion to teaching.




State Awards More Than $3.8 Million to Support High-Quality Professional Learning

The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) today announced the award of more than $3.8 million to school districts as part of the state’s Reimaging Professional Learning Grants (RPL) program. Nine school districts were awarded a total of 15 grants to support professional learning that will impact 99 schools and more than 60,720 students statewide.  




DNREC’s DuPont Nature Center to Close Sept. 1 for Season

DNREC’s DuPont Nature Center at the Mispillion Harbor Reserve will close for the season Sept. 1 and reopen April 1, 2023 in time for the annual shorebird migration.




Back to School…It’s Go Time

Students, educators, families, and policy-makers agree that we need to keep our schools open for in-person learning. We need our students and educators to be able to focus on learning. We have ground to gain following the pandemic, and recovery cannot happen overnight. Our children and school staff need this time together to focus on unfinished learning as well as accelerate learning.




Delaware Seeks Federal Grant to Support Cleaner School Buses

The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) hopes to help five school districts fund a total of 14 electric school buses and 17 propane buses through the federal Clean School Bus Rebate Program.
