Upstate trout season to open April 1 in six New Castle County streams

Delaware’s spring upstate trout season will open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1, DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today. Portions of six designated trout streams in northern New Castle County – White Clay Creek, Christina Creek, Pike Creek, Beaver Run, Wilson Run and Mill Creek – will be stocked with thousands of rainbow and brown trout, including some trophy-sized fish.

To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Feb. 13-19 made 1,840 contacts with anglers, hunters, boaters and the general public, including 18 vessel boardings for boating safety, hunting and fishing regulation compliance checks, issuing 10 citations.

To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Feb. 6-12 made 1,311 contacts with anglers, hunters, boaters and the general public, including 11 vessel boardings for boating safety, hunting and fishing regulation compliance checks, issuing 46 citations.




DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife announces spring 2017 trout stocking and opening for downstate ponds

The Division of Fish & Wildlife today announced that Delaware’s spring 2017 downstate trout season will begin Saturday, March 4 with the opening of two downstate ponds stocked with rainbow trout, provided pond ice conditions do not prevent stocking or fishing.




DNREC’s 2017 Delaware Fishing Guide and fishing rulers now available

The Division of Fish & Wildlife’s 2017 Delaware Fishing Guide and fishing rulers have arrived, with distribution to fishing license agents throughout the state, including sporting goods, bait & tackle and hardware stores.
