Secretary Bunting to honor high school seniors for oustanding academic achievement

Secretary of Education Susan Bunting will honor top public school students from the Class of 2019 at the annual Secretary of Education Scholars banquet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Dover Downs Hotel in Dover.




State, Christina collaborate on future of Delaware Autism Program

Delaware continues focus on trauma-informed practices

Over the past three years, more than 7,000 Delaware educators have participated in professional development opportunities around trauma, including book studies, workshops, strategic planning and the multi-district Compassionate Schools Teacher Test Lab. So far this year, more than 400 educators have engaged in free DDOE training to better understanding why adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are so threatening and how they rewire the brain.




16 schools to be honored for students’ academic achievement

Secretary of Education Susan Bunting will recognize 16 schools from across the state for their students’ academic achievement on Monday, Dec. 10. The students showed exceptional performance on state tests or made remarkable progress in closing the achievement gaps between student groups, including those from low-income families, racial minority groups and students with disabilities.




Troops to Teachers to help veterans, armed forces members transition to Delaware teaching careers

The Delaware Department of Education is partnering with New Jersey’s Troops to Teachers program to support the transition of veterans and members of the Armed Forces to teaching careers.
New Jersey recently received nearly $1 million in federal support over five years for its program, which will expand to Delaware.
