Delaware Toxics Release Inventory Report for 2015 shows overall progress in lowering state’s waste releases

DOVER – The annual Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) data report from Delaware’s industrial facilities as compiled by DNREC’s Emergency Prevention and Response Section show continued progress by the state in reducing toxic releases into the environment, with an overall decrease in toxic waste of 14 percent from 2015 statistics when compared to 2014 figures. The latest report also indicates that there’s still work to be done, however: While TRI data recorded a decrease in onsite releases to air, onsite releases to both water and land increased – all as compared to the state’s TRI figures for 2014, the most recent year for DNREC’s compiling the data.




Recycling Public Advisory Committee to meet Wednesday, Jan. 25 in Dover

The Recycling Public Advisory Council (RPAC) will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, in the Sussex Conference Room, Department of Insurance, 841 Silver Lake Blvd., Dover, DE 19904.




DNREC Emergency Response sampling for airborne asbestos in area of ongoing Bancroft Mills fire finds no contamination

DNREC’s Emergency Response team sampled the air today in several New Castle County communities in the immediate area of the ongoing Bancroft Mills fire for airborne asbestos resulting from the fire – with 11 samples taken during the day revealing no airborne asbestos contamination in the area.




DNREC to hold public hearing Nov. 21 in Dover for proposed Universal Recycling Regulations

DNREC’s Division of Waste & Hazardous Substances will conduct a public hearing on Delaware’s proposed Universal Recycling Regulations Monday, Nov. 21 starting at 4 p.m. in the DNREC Auditorium, in Dover.




DNREC, Kalmar Nyckel Foundation to showcase recently-established sustainable landscaping project at Wilmington shipyard Oct. 18

DNREC’s Division of Waste & Hazardous Substances and the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation invite the public to join in an event at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 showcasing established sustainable landscaping at the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation shipyard, 1124 East 7th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
