Hockessin Man Charged with Dealing in Child Pornography

Criminal Division | Department of Justice | Date Posted: Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Wilmington – Attorney General Beau Biden announced that a proactive undercover online investigation conducted by the Delaware Child Predator Task Force into the distribution of child pornography has led to the arrest of a Hockessin man.

“Receiving, possessing, and distributing child pornography are criminal acts that perpetuate the sexual abuse of kids and we’re working aggressively to hold offenders accountable,” Biden said.

The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant yesterday, April 30, at a residence on Michelangelo Court, Hockessin.  Detectives seized several computers and multiple assorted media and electronic storage devices.  A person of interest in the investigation, 26 year-old resident Daniel R. Cooke, was taken to Troop #6 for further investigation.  A forensic preview of the seized evidence revealed multiple files of child pornography, including a video of an elementary school-age female child engaged in sex acts with an adult male.  As a result of the investigation, Cooke was arrested and charged with 25 counts of dealing in child pornography. He was arraigned via videophone by JP Court #2 and was taken to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $1.5 million secured bail.

Cooke reported to investigators at the time of his arrest that he had been employed as an assistant junior varsity soccer coach at the Tatnall School during the 2012-2013 school year.
