Wilmington man sentenced to prison after admitting to stealing from cars

An armed home invasion, robbery, and sexual assault case has ended with a guilty plea and prison sentence. Mahdi Wilson, 26, of Dover pled guilty to 2 counts of Robbery First Degree, Home Invasion, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Unlawful Sexual Contact First Degree in Kent County Superior Court. In February 2018, Wilson and a second suspect forced their way into a unit at the Woodcrest Apartments in Dover at gunpoint in order to rob a man who lived there. Once inside, Wilson and the second intruder had the man and his roommate lie on the floor while they ransacked the apartment. Wilson found third victim, a friend of the occupants, in the bedroom and took her to another room in the apartment where he sexually assaulted her. A Superior Court judge immediately sentenced Wilson to 20 years in prison, followed by home confinement or work release and 2 years of probation. Wilson must also register as a Tier 3 sex offender. The second suspect was never identified. Deputy Attorneys General Kathleen Dickerson and Alicia Porter prosecuted the case with the assistance of social worker Lorraine Freese. Detective Christopher Peer of the Dover Police Department was the chief investigating officer.

Deputy Attorney General Will Raisis secured a guilty plea and prison sentence for a Wilmington man charged with a string of burglaries. Police charged Raquan Shockley, 21, with entering several cars in the Marshallton area in September 2018, rummaging through them, and taking wallets, debit cards, and a checkbook. Police identified Shockley as a suspect through fingerprints. Shockley pled guilty to 2 counts of Burglary Third Degree, and was sentenced by a Superior Court judge to one year in prison followed by 2 years of probation. DOJ social worker Courtney Cochran assisted with the case.
