The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating this afternoon’s fire near Laurel, Delaware that heavily damaged a house trailer. One person was found deceased inside the home.
The blaze, report shortly before noon, occurred in the 17000 block of Phillips Hill Road east of East Trap Pond Road. Firefighters arrived on the scene with flames engulfing the house trailer. Firefighters discovered one person inside the burning trailer while conducting a search.
Deputy fire marshals are on the scene currently searching for the origin and cause of this fire. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science took custody of the victim at the scene. An autopsy is planned for tomorrow.
Heavy fire damage was estimated at $50,000. There were no other reported injuries. This fire remains under investigation.
