A Wilmington man has pled guilty to murder charges stemming from the 2022 killing of Bruce Wright. On April 22, 2024, Marcus Bailey, 20, pled guilty to Murder Second Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in Kent County Superior Court. The plea follows an investigation into the shooting of Bruce Wright during a drug deal in Dover, Delaware. At the time of sentencing, Bailey agreed not to request less than 20 years of prison time and the State agreed to cap its prison time recommendation at 30 years.
“I am thankful to our prosecutors and the Delaware State Police for their excellent work in this case- may it bring peace to the victim’s family,” said Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “We will continue to fight gun crime and hold offenders accountable.”
On March 24, of 2022, Marcus Bailey met with Bruce Wright in Wright’s parked car near the Capital Park housing development to buy marijuana products. During the course of the exchange, Bailey refused to pay and shot Wright in the head, fleeing with the stolen drugs.
