Delaware and DNREC observe America Recycles Day, with state’s recycling exceeding the national average

Today is America Recycles Day, and Delaware has a lot to celebrate, including the state’s 44.5 percent recycling diversion rate – 10 percent above the national average – for keeping recyclable materials out of landfills. The diversion rate has almost doubled since 2006, when the Recycling Public Advisory Council (RPAC), Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) started calculating recycling rates in Delaware.

To help successful hunters support DNREC’s Sportsmen Against Hunger program and provide venison for needy Delawareans, the Division of Fish & Wildlife has announced a list of private butcher shops accepting donated deer during the state’s 2017/18 deer hunting season.




DNREC to hold workshops Nov. 29 and 30 seeking public input on Coastal Zone Conversion Permit Act regulatory development process

DNREC will hold two public workshops seeking input as it begins the process for developing regulations for the Coastal Zone Conversion Permit Act, which requires the Department to develop and promulgate regulations for the redevelopment of 14 heavy-industrial use sites in Delaware’s Coastal Zone by Oct. 1, 2019.
