Volunteers Sought to Join Concord Pond Cleanup April 13

As part of DNREC’s month-long celebration of Earth Day 2024, DNREC and partners are seeking volunteers to join a cleanup from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 13 at Concord Pond, a popular fishing spot in Sussex County, with registration open now.




DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section Set to Spray Woodland Pools

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will begin its annual spraying of spring woodland pools to control aquatic immature (larval) mosquitoes as early as Friday, March 15, weather permitting. The spring spray campaign by DNREC’s Mosquito Control section will begin in southern Sussex County, then expand into Kent and New Castle counties over the next several weeks.




Get Involved in Earth Month: Register Now for the April 13 Christina River Watershed Cleanup

Registration is now open for the annual Christina River Watershed Cleanup, rallying volunteers to join the effort on Saturday, April 13. Sponsored by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, in partnership with the Christina Conservancy and the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, the cleanup marks the 32nd year hundreds of volunteers will pick up trash at sites across New Castle County as part of Earth Month activities in Delaware.




Parks Plans Wind Transmission Line Informational Event

DNREC will host a public event on March 12 at Bethany Beach Town Hall about US Wind’s proposal to bring power lines from its offshore wind project ashore at 3Rs Beach in Delaware Seashore State Park. The meeting is to inform residents about the potential lease to allow the underground cables at 3Rs, including the construction plan and what will be visible to park users after construction.
