Bells across Delaware will ring at 3:15 p.m. on April 9, 2015 in commemoration of Robert E. Lee’s 1865 surrender at Appomattox which effectively ending the American Civil War.

Department of Correction marks the graduation of its 206th Correctional Officer training class

Today, 32 Department of Correction staff took their oaths of office and immediately begin assignments in prison facilities across the state after graduating from the Department’s Correctional Officer training academy. More than 200 family, friends, and colleagues celebrated their accomplishment at a ceremony in the Department of Correction’s Dover headquarters.

Governor Markell explains the importance of identifying unmet student needs and developing a comprehensive plan that addresses all schools in Delaware. “Amazing schools and programs across the state are offering diverse and innovative opportunities to meet individual needs, whether it’s the science and math focus at Conrad Schools of Science, the college prep courses at Mount Pleasant, the
programs to serve high-need students at EastSide Charter, or the robust career and technical training at Vo Tech schools in each county,” said Governor Markell.
