Unified Command, Incident Command Post Established for Oil Cleanup Efforts on Delaware Shore

A unified command consisting of the United States Coast Guard and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has been established today as cleanup efforts continue on oil patties that washed ashore at various locations on the Delaware Bay coastline between Fowler Beach and Cape Henlopen, Delaware.

LEWES – The Point at Cape Henlopen State Park, including a stretch of ocean beach and dunes, and a half-mile along the bay shoreline, will close Sunday, March 1, for the benefit of threatened and endangered beachnesters and migratory shorebirds, including red knot, piping plovers, oystercatchers, least terns, and other species. DNREC Division of Parks & Recreation Observation Tower in Cape Henlopen State Park to undergo repairs beginning Nov. 5

DNREC has announced that Tower 7, also known as the Observation Tower, at Cape Henlopen State Park will be closed for repairs from November 5 through the end of the year.




DNREC Division of Parks & Recreation fishing pier in Cape Henlopen State Park to undergo partial repairs beginning Oct. 9

Repair work will be conducted on the Cape Henlopen fishing pier beginning Oct. 9, to replace a pipe below the pier. The pier will remain open for the duration of the project, expected to take three days, weather permitting.
