Public Health Celebrates the Office of Animal Welfare and Outgoing Director Hetti Brown

Three years after it was created, the Division of Public Health (DPH) Office of Animal Welfare (OAW) celebrates today the accomplishments of OAW, including those of Director Hetti Brown. Brown, who will be leaving Dec. 2, 2016 to move to the Midwest, expressed her appreciation to the OAW team and its many supporters. “It has been a privilege to work with such a great group of people,” said Director Brown. “I have also been lucky to work with so many legislators and animal advocates over the years as we created this office. Moving was a difficult decision and I will miss Delaware. I am confident that OAW will remain strong and that DPH will select an accomplished successor.”




Gov. Markell, Former Governors and the Delaware Public Archives Celebrate Archives Month with New Election-Themed Exhibition

In honor of Archives Month the Delaware Public Archives is unveiling a new exhibit, “Delaware Votes: The History of Gubernatorial Elections in Delaware” in its newly remodeled and expanded exhibition space.

“William Penn Day,” “The Spirit of New Castle Past,” “1781 Surrender: End of War,” and the River Towns Ride and Festival to be featured.




Delaware Awarded Record $282,636 to Support Local Export Activities

The Small Business Administration has granted Global Delaware an FY 2016 State Trade and Export Promotion Program award totaling $282,636 to support the state’s efforts to help Delaware companies enter and develop markets overseas. This year’s grant is the largest STEP award the state has ever received.




Delaware Part of 50-State Settlement With Retailer That Targeted Military Service Members

The Delaware Department of Justice Consumer Protection Unit announced a settlement with retailer USA Discounters, also doing business as USA Living and Fletcher’s Jewelers, along with 49 other state attorneys general, to resolve the states’ claims of deceptive trade practices against the company.
