DNREC’s DuPont Nature Center to reopen April 1

The DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor Reserve, a DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife facility located in the heart of Delaware’s Bayshore Region, will reopen Saturday, April 1 after being closed for the winter.

DNREC’s Delaware Coastal Programs awarded NOAA grant to remove derelict debris from Delaware Bay

DNREC’s Delaware Coastal Programs has been awarded $90,000 in funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Marine Debris Program for a project that will remove thousands of derelict or “ghost pots” and other debris from the bottom of heavily-fished areas of the Delaware Bay.




DNREC schedules Oct. 19 public workshop for proposed Rehoboth wastewater projects

DNREC will hold a public workshop Wednesday, Oct. 19 to provide information about several wastewater projects currently proposed by the City of Rehoboth Beach. The workshop will begin at 6 p.m. inside Rehoboth Volunteer Fire Company Station 86, at 219 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach.




2016 Coastal Cleanup drew more than 1,500 volunteers who collected 6 tons of trash and recyclables from 45 sites

This year’s DNREC-sponsored 29th annual Delaware Coastal Cleanup held Sept. 17 drew 1,572 volunteers, who collected 6 tons of trash from 45 sites along more than 75 miles of Delaware’s waterways and coastline stretching from Wilmington to Fenwick Island. About one-quarter of that trash – mostly aluminum cans and glass and plastic beverage bottles – was recycled this year.
