Newark Doctor Indicted for Multiple Sex Offenses

The Delaware Attorney General’s Office announced today that it has secured the indictment of Newark Doctor Pierre Leroy on multiple sex charges. Leroy was originally arrested in May after Newark Police received and investigated a report from a patient of unlawful sexual contact by the doctor during a medical examination. The criminal investigation, conducted in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office and the Division of Professional Regulations, continued after the May 4 arrest, and resulted Leroy’s indictment on twenty counts involving a total of six adult victims.

About nine years ago, I visited what was then MBNA, now Bank of America, at a facility in Newark. There, the company employed about 300 people with disabilities who were responsible for a variety of tasks including making promotional materials. I met a young man, about 25 years old, who was making t-shirts and I asked him what he did before he got that job.  He told me he sat at home for six years watching TV with his parents.
