Local Online Career Resource Available for Take Your Child to Work Day

Department of Labor | Date Posted: Friday, March 22, 2019

Wilmington, DE. March 21, 2019–Attention educators, parents and employers! The Delaware Department of Labor’s affiliate website, the Delaware Career Resource Network (DCRN), provides information for educators, students and families to learn about careers through activities, handouts, resources, book suggestions, and web links they have placed on the site. It’s a great resource for Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day, April 25, 2019.

The website was created by the Office of Occupational and Labor Market Information (OOLMI) and the information is organized in two ways; by age group and by career cluster. The site is filled with age-appropriate activities and worksheets, links to several of OOLMI’s career and labor market publications, and even a link to hundreds of short career videos that detail things such as work tasks, work settings, education needed for each occupation, and more!

Secretary of Labor Cerron Cade commented, “It’s never too early to have children start thinking about their future careers – at a young age. This could simply mean getting them to think about the kinds of things they love to do, and as they get older they can begin to learn about how their interests connect them to careers. The DCRN is a great place to find all this information in a nice, organized fashion.”

This information on the DCRN website can be used on April 25th or any day of the year when discussing careers. It’s never too early to start thinking about your future!
