WILMINGTON, Del. – To mark the passing of Lt. Gregg Shelton and commemorate his twenty years of service to the Elsmere Police Department and the people of Delaware, Governor Matt Meyer orders flags at all state-owned buildings and facilities to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
Governor Meyer issued the following statement on Lt. Shelton’s passing: “I’m deeply saddened to learn of Lieutenant Gregg Shelton’s passing. For two decades, Lieutenant Shelton dedicated his life to protecting and serving the people of Elsmere with honor, courage, and compassion. Beyond his distinguished service in uniform, Gregg was a devoted family man, coach, and cherished community member who touched countless lives. His legacy of service and kindness will long be remembered. My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Claire, their children, his family, friends, and fellow officers during this incredibly difficult time.”
