Governor Matt Meyer Announces 302 Day Service Projects Statewide

Delawareans are encouraged to participate in a community service project near them 

WILMINGTON — Governor Matt Meyer announced today that on Monday, March 2, 2026, Delawareans across the state will come together to celebrate 302 Day with a coordinated day of service. This year’s 302 Day will be organized in tandem with Delaware 250, commemorating the state’s 250th anniversary. 302 Day 2026 will highlight volunteerism, environmental stewardship, and community support, with opportunities spanning all three counties. 
 
“302 Day is about celebrating what makes Delaware special — service, community, and civic pride,” Governor Matt Meyer said. “As we approach our 250th anniversary, we invite all Delawareans to find a way to give back and be part of this historic year.”

DELAWARE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO HOST STATEWIDE LITTER CLEANUP 
In celebration of Delaware’s 250th Anniversary, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) will host a 302 Day Statewide Litter Cleanup Event in honor of its Adopt-A-Highway Program (AAHP). The cleanup recognizes the program’s sponsors who remain committed to preserving Delaware’s natural resources and improving quality of life throughout the First State. 

DelDOT employees and volunteers will clean three priority locations: 

  • New Castle Avenue in New Castle 
  • Port Mahon Road in Dover 
  • Raccoon Ditch Road in Georgetown 

In addition, more than 50 Adopt-A-Highway sponsors will conduct cleanup efforts statewide, including community groups, families, civic organizations, and businesses dedicated to keeping Delaware litter free during this historic year. 

How to Volunteer for the DelDOT Cleanup:

DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION HOSTS REENTRY SUPPORT SERVICE PROJECT 
The Delaware Department of Correction will also participate in 302 Day with a statewide Day of Service Project focused on reentry support.  

Details: 

  • Up to 10 volunteers statewide are being sought to assist at reentry resource tables located in Probation and Parole public lobbies in each county. 
  • Volunteers will serve 2- to 3-hour shifts between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 
  • Will work alongside Department of Correction professionals to distribute personal care kits, food supplies, and printed resource information to individuals on probation and community members seeking assistance and referral services.

  • Volunteers should provide their name, email address, and phone number when registering. 

ENCOURAGE LIBRARY ACCESS ACROSS DELAWARE 
For those who do not have a library card, residents are encouraged to take advantage of access to free educational resources by signing up for a Delaware Library Card through Delaware Libraries. Delaware residents can register online for immediate access to eBooks, eMagazines, and digital learning tools. Full-service accounts are also available at local public libraries statewide.
