Troops to Teachers to help veterans, armed forces members transition to Delaware teaching careers

The Delaware Department of Education is partnering with New Jersey’s Troops to Teachers program to support the transition of veterans and members of the Armed Forces to teaching careers.
New Jersey recently received nearly $1 million in federal support over five years for its program, which will expand to Delaware.




Delaware School Success Framework results released

Today the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) released results of the Delaware School Success Framework (DSSF) for the first time under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The DSSF is a statewide system for measuring how schools perform in key areas. This tool is designed to help the public understand the full spectrum of school performance and to identify each school’s needs to best support students.




Drivers reminded of ‘Rules of Road’ to keep children safe at bus stops

The Delaware Department of Education – in partnership with the Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security Highway Safety Office, Delaware Department of Transportation and Delaware State Police – reminds vehicle operators of the state’s “Rules of the Road” to keep our children safe when they are getting on or off a school bus.




Laurel School District sets clear vision for students, educators

Once one of the lowest-performing school districts in Delaware, Laurel School District has been among the state leaders in student growth in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics for three consecutive years.
While Laurel leaders cite several factors as contributing to such gains, connecting them all is strong leadership. That starts at the top with Superintendent Dr. Shawn Larrimore and includes the district- and building-level administrative teams he has built over the past three years.
