Smyrna future educators bring home second consecutive national win

Smyrna High School was named the national champion at this year’s Educators Rising conference – the second consecutive national win and the first time any team has won two years in a row.




Middle and High School Students Honored in Digital Mapping Technology Contest

Secretary of Education Mark Holodick is pleased to recognize the following students for their submissions in this year’s Esri’s 2024 ArcGIS webapp competition. Students were challenged to create and share interactive mapping projects using ESRI ArcGIS software. Delaware entrants to this national competition must create a digital Storymap that explores some aspect of life in Delaware.




Cape Henlopen Reclaims Girls Lacrosse State Championship

The Cape Henlopen Vikings girls lacrosse team defeated Tatnall Hornets on Thursday, May 23, 2024, to reclaim the DIAA girls lacrosse state championship. Tatnall came into this year as the reigning state champs after beating Cape last year 10-9 at Delaware State University. 




Milford School Counselor Delaware 2024 Behavioral Health Professional of the Year

Shannon Gronau, a school counselor from the Milford School District, is the state’s 2024 Delaware Behavioral Health Professional of the Year.




DIAA Announces Scholar Athlete Awards

The DIAA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 DIAA/Harry Roberts-Senior Scholar Athlete awards. There were fifteen applications this year, nine from female students and six from males. The Award is named in recognition and memory of Dr. Harry Roberts, former Superintendent of the Caesar Rodney School District who served DIAA on several committees, most notably as Chair of the DIAA Sportsmanship committee for many years.
