In an effort to encourage more children and their families to enjoy the outdoors and outdoor-related activity year-round, Delaware State Parks has launched “Play Outside,” a new website for Delaware residents and visitors that provides convenient and detailed information about public parks and facilities in Delaware.




Harrington man arrested by F&W Natural Resources Police for multiple deer hunting and firearm violations

DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police arrested a Harrington man Feb. 6 for deer hunting violations and multiple charges related to possession of firearms and ammunition by a person prohibited.




Kent County sewage spill suspends Delaware Bay shellfish harvest, prompts DNREC caution for recreational use of St. Jones River

DOVER – DNREC Secretary David Small issued an emergency order today suspending commercial and recreational shellfish harvest of oysters, clams and mussels in the Delaware Bay after a spill from a Kent County sewage pump station in Dover discharged hundreds of thousands of gallons of untreated wastewater into the St. Jones River which empties into the bay. The harvest closure will be in effect for 21 days after the county’s wastewater discharge has been halted.

Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers made 957 contacts with anglers, hunters, boaters and the general public between Jan. 16-22, including eight vessel boardings for boating safety, hunting and fishing regulation compliance checks.




Dunes in state parks closed to sledding and snowboarding

With predictions of snow in the forecast, DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation reminds residents and visitors that dunes should not be used for sledding or snowboarding.
