Governor John Carney has ordered Delaware flags to be lowered to half-staff at all state facilities on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 until sunset on Friday, October 13, 2023 to honor those who have lost their lives due to recent violence in Israel

Please note the flag status update regarding flag lowering for the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein. A service in honor of Sen. Feinstein’s memory is scheduled for Thursday, October 5, followed by her interment. Accordingly, all flags should be returned to full staff at sunset today, Thursday, October 5.

In accordance with President Biden’s order and as a mark of respect for the memory of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Governor John Carney has ordered both the U.S. and Delaware flags at state buildings and facilities to be flown at half-staff effective immediately. Flags are to be returned to full staff at sunset on the day of Senator Feinstein’s interment.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day is Friday, September 15, 2023. Delaware Code (Title 29, Section 408) requires Delaware State agencies, including all public schools, to display a POW/MIA flag on its grounds or campus at each location on each day the flag of the United States is so displayed.
