Delaware State Police in preparation for Hurricane Sandy have initiated operational plans and have placed all Troopers on a standby alert status ready to respond.

The Delaware State Police continue to plan and make preparations for the possible arrival of TS/Hurricane Sandy. We are working with all local and state agencies to monitor and assess the most current weather forecasts as to determine potential issues which may negatively impact the motoring public, and to establish the most efficient means to mitigate any preventable problems.

With the first hurricane of the season tracking up the Atlantic Coast, Delaware emergency management officials are urging the public to take this storm very seriously. While it is too early to accurately predict the strength and exact path of Sandy by the time it reaches the Delmarva area everyone is encouraged to be prepared for disruptive weather.

(Smyrna) Emergency Management officials continue to monitor the latest weather forecasts and hurricane tracks, as Hurricane Sandy makes its way northward toward the Delaware area.




DUI Checkpoints Scheduled for Halloween Weekend

Delaware law enforcement officers statewide arrested 15 individuals for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs last weekend (Oct. 19-20). The arrests were the result of three sobriety checkpoints. This brings the total of DUI arrests under the 2012 Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign to 213. There have been over 4,000 DUI arrests made statewide since January.
