The Delaware Division of Alcohol & Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) is proud to announce its successful reaccreditation by the Delaware Police Accreditation Commission (DPAC) during the Commission’s quarterly meeting held on July 23, 2025. This reaccreditation follows a comprehensive assessment conducted on May 19, 2025, by a team of three assessors from police agencies across Delaware. The evaluation was overseen by Sean Moriarty, Executive Director of the Delaware Police Officer Standards and Training Commission. The assessment examined not only DATE’s policies and procedures but also the operational effectiveness of the Division—ensuring full compliance with the high standards set by DPAC.

Delaware to Launch Adult-Use Marijuana on August 1

Delaware will begin legal adult-use marijuana sales on August 1, 2025, marking a major milestone in the First State’s cannabis legalization efforts. According to the Office of the Marijuana Commissioner (OMC), all medical marijuana conversion licensees may begin recreational sales on August 1. 




Delaware Office Of Highway Safety “Sober Rides” Returns To Support Safer Travel During The July Fourth Holiday

By offering Delaware residents a convenient and low-cost option for travel to and from July Fourth celebrations, OHS aims to reduce fatalities and crashes that involve driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. OHS is promoting the availability of the ride-share vouchers — along with messaging to encourage their use — via social media and online advertising, as well as in bars and restaurants. Partners will share posters, table tents, and business cards.




Emergency Sirens Test On July 1, 2025

There are 37 sirens in Delaware located within a 10-mile radius of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations in New Jersey. The sirens cover an area north from Delaware City, west to Middletown, and south to Woodland Beach. This test is part of an ongoing program that continually monitors the integrity of the siren system.
