DNREC Indian River Dredging Project Near Millsboro to Improve Boater Navigation, Restore Tidal Wetlands
A DNREC dredging project continues along the navigation channel of the Indian River near Millsboro and in support of a nearby tidal wetland restoration project. Time of year restrictions have been waived due to the benefits of completing the marsh restoration project outweighing the reduced potential risk for negative environmental impacts because of degraded hydrology in the area – thus allowing both projects to continue during the summer months and run until March 2027.
DNREC Expects to Complete Channel Marking Projects for Major Boating Waters Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend
The DNREC Shoreline and Waterway Management Section expects to complete a channel marker installation project and maintenance activities on five major boating waters in Delaware’s Inland Bays ahead of the Memorial Day weekend so Delaware boaters can enjoy the traditional start of their season.

Underscoring the importance of safety for water enthusiasts in Delaware, the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife and Smyrna’s Citizens’ Hose Company teamed up to highlight recently installed buoyant life rings at the Woodland Beach fishing pier and boat ramp.
