Delaware Completes Major Radio System Modernization

The Delaware Department of Safety & Homeland Security’s Division of Communications completed a major milestone in statewide communications infrastructure by decommissioning its legacy 800 MHz radio system on September 22, 2025. The achievement caps an eight-year, $63 million modernization project bringing cutting-edge IP-based technology to Delaware’s radio network.




DUI Checkpoint Enforcement

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS), Delaware State Police, and local law enforcement are partnering to conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Checkpoint on Friday, September 26, 2025, in New Castle County.

Driving under the influence can lead to devastating consequences, including serious injuries or even death. The financial impact can be overwhelming, often totaling $10,000 or more in attorney fees, fines, court costs, vehicle towing and repairs, missed work, and higher insurance premiums. A DUI may also result in losing your license and potentially your job.




Division of Alcohol & Tobacco Enforcement Arrest Long Neck Man for Selling Alcohol Without a License

The Delaware Division of Alcohol & Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) arrested 47-year old Lytain Dukes of Long Neck, Delaware, for selling alcoholic liquor without a license and related offenses following an investigation into the I.Y.K.Y.K. Social Hall.

DEMA Conducts Full-Scale Emergency Response Exercise

The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) in partnership with the Delaware State Police (DSP), Appoquinimink School District, public safety personnel, and regional and state partners, conducted a full-scale emergency response exercise in Odessa on Friday, March 28. The event underscored the importance of interagency coordination in ensuring a swift, effective, and unified response to emergencies, reinforcing Delaware’s commitment to school and community safety.
