Nanticoke Creekwatchers’ volunteer training and kickoff event through Reclaim Our River Program set for March 12

The Nanticoke Watershed Alliance (NWA) seeks enthusiastic, energetic volunteers to join the 2016 Nanticoke Creekwatchers Citizen Water Monitoring Program, which is set to launch its ninth season with a volunteer training and kickoff event Saturday, March 12 at Trap Pond State Park’s Baldcypress Nature Center in Laurel.

Nature walk event on Oct. 3 will be the final event in the 2015 Reclaim Our River (ROR), Nanticoke Series, a program offering monthly events, workshops and recreational activities aimed at raising water quality awareness in the Nanticoke Watershed.

Among the lush fields and tidal marshland of Delaware’s Bayshore east of Dover, Delaware officials and conservation partners were joined by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Deputy Director Steve Guertin to celebrate the purchase, protection and conservation of the Vance Morris Tract – nearly 750 acres of key coastal Bayshore lands bordering the Ted Harvey Conservation Area.

The Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Nancy Sutley and David Agnew, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs visited Wilmington to get a firsthand look at a wetlands restoration and mitigation project site that will restore 22-acres of wetlands in the Southbridge neighborhood of South Wilmington.
